Rockhaven, a non-profit home for Christian Scientists, was founded in 1973 to carry out the terms of the will of Stanley A. Mason. His bequest was a memorial tribute to his good friend, Lena Upson, with the provision that the funds be used to establish housing for “Christian Scientists of advancing years.”
Our mission has been to fulfill that request by building and sustaining a beautiful home that nurtures ongoing spiritual growth and development for individuals at the age of retirement, who are ready and eager to discover and develop their talents and new interests. Our goal is to create a community environment that encourages independence, while at the same time, offers the support of others who value the spiritual path of the student of Christian Science.
I’ve been at Rockhaven for three years now, and love it! I’m grateful every day for my lovely home. And what value! You just can’t find such nice, roomy apartments, with full basements, anywhere near the rents we pay.
Then there’s the love! The grounds are beautiful and lovingly attended. The administrator is responsive to every need. And the neighbors are wonderful. There are three Christian Science churches within a 15 minute drive, the closest (Glastonbury) only a mile away.
